During China's 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan periods (2011-2015 & 2016-2020), he represented the German side in multiple China-Germany governmental cooperative environmental governance demonstration projects. He also served as the German Project Leader for the “Major Science and Technology Program for Water Pollution Control and Treatment” (SPA), an initiative under the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China.
